Why Miley Cyrus caused a stir by resorting to twerking at MTV VMAs?


New Delhi: The world has never been kind to singers who resort to raunchy dance moves to hit the headlines and it was the same when Miley Cyrus, the bodice-clad songstress, twerked while singing her popular track 'We can't stop' at MTV VMAs. Miley Cyrus, left many shocked and shaken when she performed controversial moves to entertain the audience. For those who came in late, the songstress shook and rubbed her behind on Robyn Thicke's groin. That's not all, Miley showed no qualms in thrusting her pelvis at the guests.
As expected, the net exploded within seconds.
"Seriously, what is wrong with this girl? Billy, help your daughter please. #vma #MileyCyrus," said one post about Miley Cyrus' outrageous performance. Twitterati CaptainTouchback also echoed the same sentiment. "Somewhere a dad's achy-breaky heart is breaking one more time. #MileyCyrus," his tweet read.

Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon too tok to Twitter to express his distress. "Remind me never to let my kids into showbiz.. Thanks," he tweeted. Actress Jaime King's tweet validated his repugnance for Miley's performance. "A certain mortification swells over me when I watch particular performers,' she posted.
Miley's misuse of the much-talked-about and provocative dance move in her six-minute long set for ratchet makeover may have helped the word 'twerking' find addition to Oxford Dictionary, but it just doesn't work in her favour.
The Parents Television Council, an organization, which has been supported by Miley Cyrus' father has slammed her MTV VMA performance and accused her of "falsely manipulating the content rating" of their show, allowing children to watch "adults-only material" like her twerking with Robyn Thicke.

Clashes between Nigerian army and Boko Haram kill 18

Maiduguri - Boko Haram, which wants to impose Islamic law in Nigeria's north, and other spin-off Islamist groups have become the biggest threat to stability in Africa's top oil exporter.   Suspected members of Boko Haram killed 11 people in an attack on Damboa town in Borno state on Thursday, shooting at soldiers, burning shops and killing civilians, a military source said, asking not to be named because he was not authorized to give official statements. "More troops have been dispatched to the area to confront the insurgents. They sneaked away towards the bush leading to parts of Yobe and Gombe States," the source said. Around 50 gunmen in cars and motorbikes stormed the rural town, forcing hundreds of residents to flee to hide in nearby farms, locals said. In neighboring Gombe state, police officers killed seven members of Boko Haram in a two-hour gun fight in the early hours of Friday, Gombe Police Spokesman Fwaje Atajiri told reporters.
