Lionel Messi saw off competition from Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil Van Dijk to win the Best FIFA Men’s Player award for 2019.This is the first time Messi has won FIFA flagship individual award since it split from Ballon d’Or and rebranded in 2016.The Barcelona and Argentina superstar came second behind Ronaldo in 2016 and 2017, before missing out on the top three altogether last time around . A five time winner of the  Ballon d’Or, Messi now has six FIFA awards to his name overall and was honored for guiding FC Barcelona to the LA LIGA title 2018-19 Season scoring 36 times in 34 outings

Bernardo Silva’s Social media post about teammate Benjamin Mendy has been met with stiff criticism, including condemnation from Kick It Out. The Portuguese midfielder posted a photo of Mendy as a child alongside a dated image from Spanish Confectionary ‘Conguitos ‘ that has been criticized for its racial connotations, with the caption : Guess who? Mendy did not appear to take offense, replying with a laughing emojis and a message saying: 1-0 for you will see”, but other twitter users were quick to point the racial implications of Benardo Silva’s post.

A California woman who dreamed of swallowing her engagement ring says she woke up to discover it had actually happened ― leaving her in need of an emergency medical procedure to extract the sparkly morsel. Jenna Evans of San Diego was sleepwalking on Tuesday night when she said she swallowed her 2.4-carat diamond after dreaming that she was on a high-speed train and the only way to protect her ring from approaching “bad guys” was to swallow it.

UK says Iran responsible for attack on Saudi oil facilities

Britain has concluded that Iran was responsible for attacks on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Sunday. He said the U.K. would consider taking part in a U.S.-led military effort to bolster the Gulf kingdom's defenses, while Iran's president announced plans for a rival Iranian-led security coalition. The U.K. Conservative prime minister also said the he would work with allies to "de-escalate" Middle East tensions that have soared since  the Sept. 14 attack  on the world's largest oil processor and an oil field. Britain had previously held back from attributing blame for the drone and missile attack. Saudi Arabia and the United States say Iran was responsible, something Tehran denies.
