Folorunsho Alakija, the West African oil baroness who has been recently termed as the world’s richest black woman, boasts of a strong connection with fashion designing and is a well-known designer in her native country Nigeria.   The fashionista, who has dethroned the American media proprietor Oprah Winfrey from her position of the world’s wealthiest black woman, studied fashion designing from England in the early 1980s.   The 61-year-old tycoon, who owns a fortune worth US$ 3.2 billion, runs a premiere clothing label called ‘Supreme Stitches’, which caters exclusively to Nigeria’s elite clientele.   Considered as one of the pioneers in Nigerian fashion, her designs focus mainly on intricate colourful printed apparels.   Owner of FAMFA Oil Limited, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Folorunsho Alakija holds a respectable position in the Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FDAN).

I Its a sad day for Tinsel fans as the hunky Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh resigned from the Mnet Africa series. The role of the character, Kwame Mensah will be written out over the next few months and Chris will shoot his last scenes in September. According to his South African management, WAKA Agency, headed by Rosie Motene, the reason for Chris' resignation is to pursue other career of interests. According to Chris, “the last seven years on tinsel have been an incredible journey and experience for me. Working with Mnet was phenomenal and it took a lot of deliberation but I have decided to pursue other career of interests”. Tinsel has witnessed the exodus of Damilola Adegbite, Angela and now Chris Attoh, who has spent seven years with the MNET Africa's production.
