he traditional wedding for Davido’s sister, Sharon Adeleke held today in Lagos and the occasion was graced by Davido and several artistes in the musical industry. Sharon and her husband Yomi Ademefun will have their church wedding this September in Miami, Florida. Congrats to them!

The Joint Task Force (JTF) in Borno State has claimed it had killed Momodu Bama, second-in-command to the Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, during a recent confrontation in the state. The task force also claimed that Bama’s father, Abatcha Flatari, a spiritual leader of the sect, was also killed during the confrontation. The JTF claimed that Bama and his father were killed in a counter attack in Bama, when the sect attacked the riot police base in Bama, headquarters of Bama Local Government Area of the state on August 4, adding that the killing was contrary to report in some quarters that another Muhammad Bama, on whose head a bounty of N10 million was placed, was killed in Mubi, Adamawa State. Spokesman of the JTF, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, while confirming the killing said Momodu was killed along with his father during an attack on police base, adding that even before his killing, the JTF had placed N25 million bounty on his head and not N10 million as claimed by the ...

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed on Wednesday that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and some Governors of the crisis-ridden ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have applied for the registration of a group, Peoples Progressive Movement (PPM), as a political party. The commission said it is processing the application. The Daily Independent is reporting that among the Governors who are promoting the new political association are Murtala Nyako of Adamawa, Babangida Aliyu of Niger, Sule Lamido of Jigawa and Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano – the same folks who have been touring the country (under the Peoples Democratic Party umbrella of course), purporting to be on a mission to save our democracy.

Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and interim Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, Wednesday upbraided the presidency over its recent attack on him. El-Rufai said President Goodluck Jonathan’s response to an interview he granted over the weekend showed that he is “the promoter and apostle of ethnic and religious divisions of Nigeria, purely for political gains”. The former minister had while featuring on Liberty Radio’s Guest of the Week programme alleged that it was unfortunate that Jonathan’s political handlers thought that if they introduced religion, they would be able to divide the north and garner Christians’ votes from the region for the president.
